Vice president Commission for Hydrology of the WMO

Dr. Eng. Silvano Pecora is a civil engineer, specialised in hydrology and hydraulics, with a PhD in hydrological engineering. He is Vice-President of the WMO Commission for Hydrology. He is Head of Hydrology in ARPAE-SIMC, coordinating hydrological monitoring and modelling in the whole Po river basin in Italy. He is co-leader of the WMO\OGC Hydrology Domain Working Group, whose purpose is to provide a venue and mechanism for seeking technical and institutional solutions to the challenge of describing and exchanging data describing the state and location of water resources, both above and below the ground surface. He is co-task team leader of the Task Team on Water Scarcity and Drought in the Working Group of Climate and Hydrology of the WMO RA VI Europe. He has a vast experience in flood forecasting and water resources management using numerical and stochastic models.
